384
The Peterbilt 384 is a Class 8 aerodynamic conventional truck produced from 2008 to around 2015, designed as a lighter-duty sibling to the 386 and 387. Built with fuel efficiency in mind, the 384 was popular among regional and vocational fleets seeking a balance between maneuverability, weight savings, and driver comfort.
The Peterbilt 384 is well-suited for:
- Regional and short-haul freight
- Dry van and reefer transport
- Flatbed work
- Bulk commodities and tanker
- Vocational applications with a need for lighter curb weight
Its short bumper-to-back-of-cab (BBC) length and aerodynamic styling made it a cost-effective fleet performer.
Cab Type
- Cab Style: Aerodynamic conventional
- Cab Width: ~1.9 meters (narrow cab)
- Configurations:
- Day cab
- Mid-roof sleeper
- Shares the narrow-body cab structure with the 386, 385, 378, and 379
Aftermarket Seat Compatibility
The Peterbilt 384 uses the standard vocational/narrow cab bolt pattern:4.68" x 12"
This means that no adaptor plate is required for most aftermarket seat installations.
Installation Notes
- No adaptor needed unless cab has been modified
- Watch for dash clearance on Legacy High Back or tall Knoedler models in day cab setups
- Flat floor and modern electrical connectors simplify installation compared to older Peterbilts
