320

The Peterbilt 320 is a low-cab forward (LCF) truck designed for severe-service vocational applications. It’s best known for its cab-over-engine (COE) layout, which allows for tight maneuverability and excellent forward visibility—ideal in urban or high-demand environments.

The 320 is widely used in demanding vocational applications, such as:

  • Refuse/garbage collection
  • Recycling and roll-off trucks
  • Concrete mixers
  • Street sweepers
  • Utility service or terminal tractors

This truck is popular in both right-hand drive (RHD) and dual-steer configurations for refuse fleets and urban delivery routes.

Cab Type

  • Cab Style: Low-cab forward, narrow vocational design
  • Cab Width: Approximately 1.9 meters (same vocational shell used on Peterbilt 348, 340, etc.)
  • Design Features: Flat floor, upright seating, and dash controls optimized for forward-entry

Aftermarket Seat Compatibility

The Peterbilt 320 uses the standard vocational seat bolt pattern of approximately 4.68" x 12", making it compatible with most vocational air-ride or mechanical seats.

However, because of the tight cab space and obstructions under the seat, it is strongly recommended to use low-profile or compact seat models.

Popular aftermarket seats:

  • National Refuse Seat – narrow-base vocational models
  • Bostrom T-Series – low profile air ride versions fit well
  • Knoedler Super ultra compact – good fit when headroom is a concern

Installation Notes:

  • The 320's floor layout may differ depending on single-steer or dual-steer configuration.
  • In dual-drive cabs, clearance is a major concern—low-back seats or special bases are often required.
  • Confirm clearance for steering columns, electrical harnesses, or HVAC components under the seat.

The National Refuse seat is recommended with adaptor plate dependent on if a National seat is being replaced or not.  You can select that option when configuring your refuse seat.
